Traditional Villages become official GEN Villages and join in the commitment to:

• Promote a sustainable local economy, protected from the withdrawal of fossil fuels from Africa. Such an economy emphasizes the renewal of community production and barter systems, micro-credit and savings clubs, diverse organic agriculture techniques, and responsible fishing and manufacturing practices.
  
• Restore and protect natural resources and creating environmentally healthy settlements, which implement the use of solar energy and other appropriate environmentally sound technology.
  
• Emphasize social solidarity in the form of effective leadership and governance practices. These practices empower the members of a community to improve access to education and health services and information technologies, which enable transparent community management and global communication.
  
• Cultivate a holistic Worldview, favoring socially engaged spirituality, reconnecting with nature, celebrating human life and preserving the richness of traditional culture lifestyles, healing and other arts and crafts.
